Engine Ops: Tactical is where you take everything you learned in Engine Ops: Core and start building real engine-level features — the kind used in actual gameplay, physics, AI, and rendering pipelines. This module is hands-on, system-driven, and deeply practical. You’ll follow the same workflow used by engine developers: ✔ Design subsystem ✔ Implement ✔ Integrate ✔ Test ✔ Profile ✔ Iterate Not as a sandbox hobby — as a real engineering practice. Where Core taught you the map, Tactical teaches you how to move through the terrain and build your own structures within it. --- What You’ll Build & Execute Custom ECS or Component Systems Build entities, components, transforms, and update pipelines. Movement, Physics & Collisions Implement simplified physics loops, collisions, resolution, and forces. Rendering-Level Features Cameras, view matrices, culling, simple draw systems. AI & Behavior Foundations State machines, decision patterns, sensors. Input & Event Systems Low-level input handling, event dispatchers, messages, triggers. Profiling & Optimization Learn to test performance, find weaknesses, refine your code. Every subsystem you build connects to real engine patterns used in studios today. --- Who It’s For Students coming from Engine Ops: Core Developers who want to build serious technical skill Aspiring engine programmers or technical gameplay engineers Anyone wanting a systematic, production-aware understanding of engine internals --- Why It’s Comprehensive Because it takes you from “I understand what engines do” to “I can build engine systems myself.” This module prepares you for advanced roles and connects directly to Game Ops, where these systems become tools for gameplay building. It’s a complete, end-to-end tactical training sequence. --- What You Leave With Real, practical engine systems you’ve built with your own hands. A deep understanding of how engines operate under load. And the skill set to move confidently into gameplay programming, AI, tools, technical design, or deeper engine development. You won’t just know engines — you’ll know how to operate and extend them.
